Speckled Sussex are friendly, docile, and gentle. They are curious and like people, making them a good choice for families with children. They are also confident but not aggressive with other breeds. They have dark brown or mahogany feathers with some black and blue feathers and white ends, giving them a speckled appearance. Hens start laying eggs when they are 16–20 weeks old and lay 4–6 large, light brown eggs weekly.
